From School Library Journal
Grade 7–9—This text provides a well-balanced look at sexual attitudes and behaviors as they relate to today’s youth. Feinstein gives a brief overview of the sexual revolution before leading into teen sexuality and relationships, saying “no” to unwanted advances, and homosexuality. He also includes solid discussions of birth-control options and teen pregnancy and devotes a chapter to sexually transmitted diseases. The discussion of sex education in schools is of particular note, slanting perhaps in a more liberal direction than some districts might like. Layout and full-color photos are typical of nonfiction social studies and health guides and blend into the background of the text. The book could be useful for basic report and debate information or as a jumping-off point for class discussions.—Elaine Baran Black, Georgia Public Library Service, Atlanta
