Editorial Reviews from Amazon.com

In summary, the overall impression of the Maths Now GCSE student books is one of excellent syllabus coverage, well presented. — The Mathematical Gazette 20030301

Product Description

This text builds on Key Stage 3 work and prepares students for the GCSE Mathematics specifications at the Intermediate tier – first examination in 2003. It complies with the revised National Curriculum for 2000 and features colour photographs, illustrations and diagrams to support the text. The use of calculators and computers is incorporated as appropriate and the ICT requirement is addressed throughout. The style of teaching seeks to be precise but friendly, and in the main is intended for whole class teaching. Expository material is usually in the form of guided discovery, which is then supported and consolidated by worked examples and many exercises. Each chapter includes a comprehensive summary followed by further exercises at three levels of difficulty. There is additional revision material, tests and assessments built in, “mental” mathematics, appropriate historical contexts, and cross-curricular links are made with many other disciplines. Emphasis throughout the series is placed on conceptual development. The material has been trialled in schools throughout the UK.
