If you have been searching for a cure for your bacterial vaginosis, you may have come across information about using tea tree oil for bacterial vaginosis and you may be wondering if this really works and why.

Bacterial vaginosis occurs due to an imbalance of bacteria within the vagina. Under normal circumstances, the conditions within the vagina are slightly acidic in nature and this supports the formation of Lactobacillus, which is healthy bacteria, and this keeps the vagina healthy. When the balance is upset, the pH levels within the vagina will sway towards being alkaline and this causes the formation of harmful bacteria. It is this bacteria which causes the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis which are typically a watery gray or white discharge, itching and irritation in and around the vagina and a very unpleasant fishy smelling discharge.

There are good reasons for using tree oil for bacterial vaginosis. Tea tree oil is a very powerful natural antibacterial substance. Indeed, it is the most potent known to man. Despite this, it is generally very gentle to use and in recent years it has been called a “wonder substance” and “miracle oil” in various advertisements. It can be used to treat all manner of conditions from headlice to scabies and is a powerful adversary against bacteria.

This “wonder” oil can help to kill off the harmful bacteria within the vagina without having any adverse effect. However, you should never use neat tea tree oil in such a sensitive area. There are two ways of using tea tree oil for bacterial vaginosis. The first is to add 10-12 drops to a warm bath and sit in it for about 20 minutes for full effect. Secondly, you can buy pessaries from health food stores which have the correct dilution to be used inside the vagina, getting to the heart of the bacteria.

Used in isolation, there is no doubt that tea tree oil can help to relieve some of the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis. However, to cure the condition altogether, it is essential that it is used as part of an overall strategy which uses other natural treatments in conjunction with tea tree oil.

Prompt action is always a good idea if you have BV as although not dangerous in the early stages, if left untreated bacterial vaginosis can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease and even infertility.

Trichomoniasis or most commonly known as Trich and is considered to be the main cause of vaginitis. It spreads through external water sources and is also considered to be a sexually transmitted disease or STD. It is manly the infection of the urogenitical tract.

Causes:

Motile flagellated protozoan Trichomonas vaginalis is the root cause for the infection Trichomoniasis. With this parasite, worldwide around 174 million people are affected and it is the sexually transmitted infection and making it one of curable infection in the world.

15mm is the average size of Trichomoniasis (not visible to naked eyes). This parasite’s reproduction occurs every 8 t o12 hours. Of the infected female partners 67% to 100% and male partners 14% to 60% this parasite Trichomoniasis was isolated. It is unclear that more than male why females are affected more. Zinc contains are found in the fluid prostatic is one of the harmful chances to trichomonads.

Symptoms:

Men:

-Swelling in the scrotum (A pouch of skin that contains epididymides, lower portions of the spermatic cords and the testes).
-Pain while urination
-Discharge of urethral
-The majority of the males have no symptoms

Women:

-Vaginal discharge
-Itchy, smelly and typically foamy and frothy discharge

Treatment: Self Care At Home

The treatment to this infection is of the choice antibiotics of the doctor. In addition some medicine therapies are available to the antibiotics. No scientific evidences support these therapies for use. Without an doctor’s consult and antibiotics which is appropriate should not be used this is called home therapy (using your own medicine),by doing home therapy it would lead to many sexually transmitted diseases which are very harmful to our body like Chlamydia or gonorrhea, syphilis and HIV. To increase the parasite killing activity you can add the juice of lemon to the following douches:

-One quart of water to one quart of vinegar
-Yogurt douches
-You can also try aromatherapy which helps to reduce the irritation during urinal

Medical Treatment:

The choice of the treatment is metronidazole (flagyl) except in the first trimester of your pregnancy and also it is important to note that not to consume alcohol during the drug consumption. This treatment is very large single dose which is effective very much. Partners should take care that though your partner might not have the symptoms it is safe to have your partner is evaluated and treated or else you may be infected.

May be your partner may be given a very large dose of this treatment or will be treated of the period of seven days. Or your doctor may not give the prescription without routinely examining your partner.

Trichomoniasis is a quite popular infection, which can be spread relatively quickly, and it can affect about 30% of the women who are active from the sexual point of view and 25% of men in this category. It is an infection, which can affect only genital and urinary areas. They are the urethra in the case of men, and the urethra and the vagina in the case of women.

The infection is caused by a microorganism, actually by a microscopic parasite called Trichomonas Vaginalis. This microorganism is transmitted through vaginal sex, of course if it is not protected and it can be spread through sexual toys, which are used by more persons. It is not transmitted via oral sex but it does not mean that you must not protect yourself if this is what you want.

To continue with, you must take into consideration another aspect as well. As it has been proved that the parasite can survive sometime in the outer environment too, the infection can be triggered by contact with infected underwear. Girls must be careful when they try on the knickers of a girl friend’s swimming suit! You should avoid towels used by more persons, who may be infected, especially in order to dry up your genital area. Actually, it is easier to prevent than to treat… There is the risk to transmit the infection from the mother to the baby if it is a girl.

Furthermore, in the case of men, this disease does not develop symptoms most of the times. That is why it can be hardly detected, which leads to the possibility of constantly contracting the infection.

Tricomonas Vaginalis is a parasite; it is not a microbe or a virus and it does not resist too much time outside the human body. It only resists there for one to two hours, therefore there are little chances to contract the infection from toilet seats or from common bathrooms in hostels. Actually, most of the people are careful in these cases.

The parasite prefers the vagina environment because it is wet. Some women have between menstruations abundant secretions and present greater risk for tricomonas infection. Besides, there are other microbes inside the vagina, which usually live there.

Furthermore, during an intercourse insignificant traumatisms may occur. They are no more than small lesions, which you do not see or feel. You must not perform local washing using medicines, which have good cleaning properties, recommended by your friends. In the case of men, inside the urethra tricomonas does not have conditions to develop, but it can live there as well.

To continue with, you will have now a separate picture of the disease, in the case of women and men. Thus, the disease can emerge in the case of young women especially at the beginning of their sexual life. Then, an abundant secretion can be visible as its color is white or greenish and its smell is quite unpleasant. Besides, you can have slight burning or smarting pain and itching feeling apart from the emergence of red areas between your legs. You can feel pain while having sex; therefore, you prefer to avoid it. Apart from these signs, it sometimes can emerge a complication called inguinal adenopathy.

Trichomoniasis is a sexual transmitted infection (STI) caused due to the parasite named trichomonas vaginalis. The parasite attaches itself to the lining of the vagina and urethra, and people usually have this disease because of unprotected sex with their partners and also using infected sex toys. The disease can also be passed through kissing, oral or anal sex, filthy toilet seats and sharing of towels. Trichomoniasis is also sometimes called trichomonas, trich or TV.

The trich disease often doesn’t show any symptoms in half of the infected women, so it becomes difficult to detect. However some of the symptoms that show up include a swollen vaginal area, increased urge of urination, abnormal vaginal discharge, skin itches around the thighs and stomach ache.

Some symptoms are caused due to other sexual transmitted infections (STI) and vaginal infections, so it’s better to have test and treatment at the proper time.

Trich test is easy, where nurse examines for the signs of infection inside the vagina. Discharge samples from the vagina are taken to the lab for testing. Antibiotics are given to the patient for such treatment. Often it happen that patient test positive for trich during routine smear test, but more diagnosis is essential to make sure that it is trich. When a patient suffers from trich, it is essential that both the patient and partner undergo test and abstain from sex during treatment.

It’s better to check for the disease well before having sexual intercourse with your partner. Condoms can be used, or dental dams can be used for oral sex. Sex toys should be cleaned well before using them. Repeated infection is possible after the infection, so it’s better to abstain from sex while treatment and antibiotics is going on.

Trichomonas affects around 6,000 people in UK per year, so get test done before its too late. Charter Medical is the name in UK to reckon with when it comes to treatment for sexual diseases and infections.

Caused by a flagellated motile protozoan, Trichomonas vaginalis, Trichomoniasis, also known as “trich”, is one of the most commonly occurring sexually transmitted disease in the world. The World Health Organization reports that according to its annual statistical estimates, about 7.4 million cases of this disease are reported every year in the United States alone, and over 180 million cases are reported from around the world. Although, there are still large number of cases that do not get reported at all because the disease cannot be diagnosed easily.

Trichomoniasis is curable completely through the use of oral medication. Ointments, medicated creams, gels, lotions or shampoos are not effective in treating this disease. In order to cure it, doctors typically prescribe tinidazole or metronidazole. This is quite effective in most of the cases but has certain side effects like a bad after taste left in the mouth after consuming this medicine, nauseous feeling, and loss of appetite. In pregnant women, who do not want to take any oral medication for this disease, the doctors usually prescribe metronidazole gel, although it is not very effective. One must remember to refrain from consuming alcohol when using metronidazole orally because it can result in severe vomiting. The patient is either advised to take one large dose of Metronidazole or take several smaller doses over a period of one week.

Another therapeutic option to help cure Trichomoniasis is to take a douche (washing the genital area with a stream of plain water or medicated solution to eliminate odor, clinging vaginal discharge and to cleanse infections) twice a day. The douche may also use diluted solution containing medicinal herbs (such as echinacea, calendula, and goldenseed), yogurt or vinegar, which has a desiccating effect and helps in drying up the discharge.

Green vaginal discharge is unusual, and can cause anxiety when discovered. It’s true that this green discharge is a sign of a pretty big problem, but the good news is that the problem can be treated quickly and easily as long as you catch it early.

Trichomoniasis

The reason behind green vaginal discharge is usually a type of sexually-transmitted infection called trichomoniasis. Trichomoniasis is caused by a parasite that’s spread through sexual contact. It can occur in both men and women, but women are the ones who most often exhibit symptoms. Both partners will need to be treated as soon as possible to avoid spreading the infection. Like another other STI, safe sexual practices greatly decrease the risk of contracting trichomoniasis.

Symptoms of trichomoniasis

Other than the green vaginal discharge, trichomoniasis comes with a few symptoms that are common with any infection. A foul vaginal odor may be noted. This odor may be especially strong after intercourse. Itching, burning, soreness, and redness of the vaginal opening may also be present, but irritation symptoms like this aren’t a requirement to make a diagnosis. As mentioned earlier, men may not have any symptoms at all. Women who have been infected with trichomoniasis usually exhibit symptoms with 5 to 28 days.

More about discharge

Green vaginal discharge isn’t the only change that can occur in your normal vaginal secretions. The color of trichomoniasis discharge can range from yellow to green to a grayish color tinted with yellow or green. It often takes on a frothy or foamy texture. The poor odor associated with trichomoniasis comes from the discharge itself.

Treatment

Luckily, treatment for trichomoniasis is easy. This infection is actually the most common curable STI found in sexually active young women. Treatment consists of a single dose of prescription medication that kills the parasite. One form of this medication can safely be used by pregnant women. Being treated for trichomoniasis doesn’t keep you from getting the infection again, so it’s important to take preventative measures after the initial treatment.

Prevention

Prevention of STIs is best done by using a condom, abstaining from sex, or only being intimate with a long-term, uninfected partner. Safe sexual practices have other benefits for your vaginal health besides just preventing STIs. Bacterial vaginosis, another type of infection, is not an STI but is less likely to occur in women who don’t engage in risky sexual behavior. Various kinds of vaginal irritation are also less common when safe sex is practiced regularly. See a health professional for more information about trichomoniasis, or if you think you may need a diagnosis.

Vaginitis is simply a word that encompasses many different vaginal disorders which come along with irritation, infection or inflammation. This condition can develop through several different means, including from a virus, bacteria or yeast. It can also be caused by the use of certain hygienic products such as lotion or your particular laundry detergent. Women can actually transmit this condition to their partners during sexual intercourse. Because there are so many types of conditions that ‘vaginitis’ describes, there are also many different symptoms that one can experience. Here are the most common symptoms of vaginitis.

o You may notice discharge that is different from what you would normally see, or even an unpleasant odor.

o You may notice itching and irritation around the external part of the vagina.

o You may notice some burning during urination.

o Intercourse might be uncomfortable or painful for you.
There are several different types of vaginitis, and each one has certain symptoms unique to that type as well as symptoms that are similar to the other types. Here are those different types of vaginitis.

Bacterial Vaginosis -

If you notice a white to gray colored discharge that is milky in consistency, as well as a really bad, fish-type odor, you may have BV. This infection usually doesn’t cause redness or itching and in fact most women experience very mild or no symptoms at all, other than the foul odor.

Yeast Infections/Candida -

Yeast infections product a discharge that resembles cottage cheese. It’s normally white and sort of lumpy in texture. There is no smell or odor with the discharge but the outside of the vagina may become irritated and itchy. This is a very common infection in women who are of childbearing years.

Viral Infections -

These viruses may be called herpes simples, and these are identifiable by sores which become apparent in the vaginal area. They are quite painful and can spread to the inside of the vaginal opening. HPV (Human Paplillomavirus) which is also known as genital warts is also a viral infection and can be painful.

Trichomoniasis Vaginitis -

If you notice a foul smell as well as a yellow to green discharge, you may have this condition. It will usually be accompanied by irritation and burning. There will be a bad odor as well as possible abdominal pain. Menstruation may make this pain worse.
Non-Infectious Vaginitis – This is simply a reaction to some sort of irritant which has come into contact with the vagina. It could be soap, douches, or tampons. You might experience itching and burning or irritation but as soon as the irritant is removed, you will get better quickly.

Chlamydia -

This condition is quite hard to diagnose as there are typically no symptoms. This is a type of STD and is quite preventable through the use of sexual protection.

Any of these conditions can be quite irritating and embarrassing. Should you have any of these symptoms, contact your physician for a check up right away. This way, you will be able to treat the condition and get back to normal.

The medical term “Vaginitis” is used to describe many disorders that can cause inflammation and/or infection in the vagina. Vaginitis can be caused by an infection from organisms such as a virus, bacteria or yeast and can also be caused from using such products as sprays, soaps, laundry soap found in your clothes. There have also been cases where women pass it on to sexual partners.
Since there are many forms of vaginitis, it goes without saying that the symptoms of vaginitis can vary. There are even some women who show no signs or symptoms at all. Below is a list of symptoms that are commonly seen in most cases of vaginitis:

o An unpleasant odor coupled with an abnormal vaginal discharge

o The outside of the vagina may itch

o Urination accompanied by burning

o Pain or discomfort while having intercourse

There are a total of six common types of vaginitis each with there own and some similar symptoms:

o Bacterial vaginosis- This is the most common of vaginal infections in women of the childbearing years. This infection will usually have a milky discharge that has a bad fishy odor. Most women with this infection have little to no symptoms at all. This infection is NOT one to have redness or itching.

o Yeast infections or Candida – This type of infection comes with a discharge that is the consistency of cottage cheese being white in color. The discharge is odorless but can cause the outside of the vagina to become itchy and red.

o Viral vaginitis- Viruses such as these may called herpes simplex virus and is most noticeable by the sores that are present in the genital area. These sores are very painful and can sometimes spread just inside the vagina. Human papillomavirus (HPV) also know as genital warts, is another viral vaginitis and can be very painful as well.

o Trichomoniasis vaginitis- this infection comes with a greenish- yellowish discharge as well as the burning and itching mentioned above. This infection usually comes with a bad or foul smell. Women also complain of their abdomens hurting as well as pain when having intercourse. These symptoms can be worse after a woman gets her period.

o Non-infectious vaginitis -This is usually caused by an irritation rather then an infection. This can be an allergic reaction to a new soap, laundry detergent, spray or even a douche. Symptoms can be itching, burning and maybe a rash and discharge but usually clears up fast when the culprit causing the reaction is removed.

o Chlamydia- Sadly most women infected with this often have no symptoms at all and that can make getting diagnoses very difficult. As a sexually transmitted disease, there are preventions you can take to be sure you do not get Chlamydia such as the use of a condom.

If you suffer with any of the above symptoms, seek the advice and treatment of your physician. Do not let the symptoms go as they can cause serious problems if left untreated.
