Genital warts are soft wart-like growths on the genitals caused by a viral skin disease. Genital warts caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). HPV is a transmitted infection (STI). Genital warts also called venereal warts. Genital warts may be small, flat, flesh-colored bumps or tiny, cauliflower-like bumps. Genital warts are a type of transmitted disease (STD). Most people who acquire those strains never develop warts or any other symptoms. HPV also causes many cases of cervical cancer; types 16 and 18 account for 70% of cases. Genital warts can be passed from person to person through intimate contact. In men, genital warts can grow, near the anus, or between the scrotum. In women, genital warts may grow on the vulva and perineal area, in the and on the cervix. HPV infection also is associated with the development of other anogenital cancers in women. The HPV types that cause cervical cancer also have been linked with both anal and penile cancer in men as well as a subgroup of head and neck cancers in both women and men. Most patients with genital warts are seen between the ages of 17-33 years. Genital warts are highly contagious.

HPV grows well in the moist genital area. HPV infection appears to be more common and worse in patients with various types of immunologic deficiencies. Warts on the outer genitals are easily recognized. They are raised, flesh-colored lesions that may occur singly or in clusters. Left untreated, warts may rapidly enlarge, taking on a “cauliflower-like” appearance.Multiple simultaneous lesions are common and may involve subclinical states as well as different anatomic sites. Subclinical infections have an infectious and oncogenic potential. Consider the possibility of abuse in pediatric cases; however, remember that infection by direct manual contact or, rarely, by indirect transmission from fomites may occur. Additionally, passage through an infected canal at birth may cause respiratory lesions in infants. Many Symptoms of Genital Warts. Genital warts are painless, they may be bothersome because of their location, size, or due to itching. The size may range from less than one millimeter across to several square centimeters when many warts join together.Men and women with genital warts will often complain of painless bumps, itching, and discharge.

Genital warts must be treated by a doctor. Carbon dioxide laser treatment is used for extensive or recurrent genital warts. Podophyllin and podofilox should not be used during pregnancy, as they are absorbed by the skin and may cause birth defects in the fetus. 5-fluorouracil cream should not be used while trying to become pregnant or if there is a possibility of pregnancy. Antiviral drug interferon-alpha directly into the warts, to treat warts that have returned after removal by traditional means. Surgical treatments include cryosurgery, electrocauterization, laser therapy, or cutting them out. Cryosurgery is technique freezes the wart using liquid nitrogen or a “cryoprobe.” Electrodesiccation technique uses an electric current to destroy the warts. It can be done in the office with local anesthesia. The resulting smoke plume may be infectious. Imiquimod (Aldara) cream appears to boost your immune system’s ability to fight genital warts. Avoid contact while the cream is on your skin. It may weaken condoms and diaphragms and may irritate your partner’s skin. Condoms offer some protection against genital warts, but they can’t completely prevent them because the warts can be outside of the area protected by the condom. Spermicidal foams, creams, and jellies have not been proven to protect against HPV and genital warts. Avoid STDs by having a monogamous relationship with a partner known to be disease-free.

Genital warts are contagious and they are spread during sexual activity. The virus that causes genital warts is the human papillomavirus. There are 100 types of HPV and 40 of them are spread through sexual contact.

Genital warts can spread during oral, vaginal or anal sex with an infected partner. About two thirds of people who have sexual contact with a partner who has genital warts will develop warts, usually within three months of contact.

The only way to prevent genital warts from spreading is to avoid direct contact with the virus, which is transmitted by skin to skin contact. If you or your sexual partner has warts that are visible in the genital areas, you should avoid any skin to skin contact to avoid spreading genital warts.

Unfortunately, many people who have HPV but who have no symptoms don’t know that they can spread the genital warts virus to an uninfected partner. At any given time only a small percentage of people who have genital warts have warts that are easily seen. A recent study by the National Institute of Health reported that almost half of women who are infected with HPV had no obvious symptoms. Some people have reported reduced incidence of genital warts when a condom is used but there is not formal scientific evidence to support that theory.

Pregnant women who are infected with HPV and suffer from genital warts are likely to be concerned about passing this extremely common sexually transmitted disease on to their child. Although it is not curable, genital warts do not generally spread to the newborn and are not a major threat to your child’s health during pregnancy.

In some cases pregnant women have genital warts so large that they block the birth canal and make a vaginal birth impossible. There is also the risk that the warts may begin to bleed as the baby passes through the birth canal. In some instances, it may be necessary for a woman to have a cesarean section either if the warts completely block the birth canal or if the warts are at risk of bleeding excessively during birth.

A good source of information about how genital warts can spread is the National Institute For Allergies and Infectious Diseases. NIAID supports basic and applied research to prevent, diagnose and treat infections diseases. NIAID is part of the National Institutes of Health.

Although there is no cure for HPV, considerable research has been performed regarding the prevention of the infection. In June of 2006, the Food and Drug Administration approved Gardisil, the first vaccine developed to prevent genital warts. Some states are considering making the vaccine mandatory for girls when they turn 13. There has been heated political debate over whether or not the vaccine should be mandatory. In any event, the focus on prevention could play a key role in reducing the spread of genital warts in this country.

Glossary:
Gardisil: A vaccine to prevent genital warts that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
Human papillomavirus: The virus that causes genital warts.

Genital warts during pregnancy can be a major source of concern for expectant mothers. There is a slight chance that genital warts during pregnancy can be passed along to newborn infants during birth. Genital wart treatment options for pregnant women are different than those that are available for other women.

Pregnant women who have genital warts often find that their genital warts symptoms get worse during pregnancy. This is because your immune system is naturally suppressed during this time, making you more vulnerable to viruses and infections. As a result you may find that your warts grow larger.

Genital warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). The majority of pregnant women with a past history of HPV and genital warts have healthy pregnancies and birthing experiences. However, HPV can be transmitted both before and possibly, during birth in women who have an active case of genital warts. Moreover, genital warts can hinder a woman’s ability to have a vaginal birth.

Pregnant women should not use any over the counter treatment for treating genital warts without consulting their physician. Many of the over the counter products for genital warts contain salicylic acid, which can be dangerous to the unborn child. There are also certain prescription medications that should not be used by pregnant women. Podofilox, a prescription medication used to treat genital warts, should not be used by pregnant women because it is absorbed through the skin and may cause birth defects. Check with your doctor before taking any medication while you are pregnant.

Pregnant women who are infected with HPV and suffer from genital warts are likely to be concerned about passing this extremely common sexually transmitted disease on to their child. Although it is not curable, genital warts do not generally pose a major threat to your child’s health during pregnancy.

If your baby becomes infected with HPV, the child may develop warts on the genitals or in the throat. Although it is rare for a child to develop warts laser surgery is usually needed to remove them so that they do not obstruct breathing. Genital warts symptoms in children can remain dormant for up to three years after birth.

Your obstetrician is your best source of information on how to deal with genital warts during pregnancy. Your doctor knows your medical history and can help you develop a treatment plan that is safe and effective. Bear in mind that thousands of women who have had genital warts during pregnancy have delivered full-term healthy babies with no HPV infection.

Genital warts in males are the outward symptoms of a viral infection which may include the tissues around the infected area. Male genital warts can affect the urethra, penis, scrotum and rectal area. The warts can appear as soft, raised areas with a surface that can be smooth or rough. Genital warts in males can be difficult to detect because they may be covered with pubic hair.

According to the American Academy of Physicians, there are several treatment options available to remove genital warts in males. The goal of treatment is to prevent spreading the virus and to relieve the physical symptoms. No particular method for removing male genital warts works in all cases. When choosing the best method to remove genital warts, your physician will consider the size, location and number of warts.

Physicians who provide treatment for male genital warts in their offices will likely use one of the following techniques:

* Cyrotherapy – removing male genital warts with liquid nitrogen

* TCA (trichloracetic acid) – a chemical compound used to remove male genital warts.

* Electrocautery – burning off male genital warts with an electrical current

* Laser therapy – using an intense light to remove genital warts (Laser treatments for male genital warts can be very expensive and is not available in all physicians’ offices.)

At-home prescription treatments for male genital warts include imiquimod cream and podofilox cream. These creams require repeated daily applications over a period of weeks. Many patients prefer these medications because they can be applied in the privacy of their homes.

It is important to understand that effective treatment of male genital warts does not constitute a cure. This is because the treatment removes the genital warts, but not the HPV virus. As long as the HPV virus is present, male genital warts can recur and require additional treatment. Condoms do not adequately protect against genital warts, because the infected spot may not be covered by a condom. The only reliable prevention is not to have skin contact with potentially infected tissue.

Doctors strongly caution against the use of home remedies for male genital warts because many of the chemicals used in these treatments can be very strong and cause irritation in the sensitive male genital area. Because there are so many male genital wart treatments available, you should consult with your doctor about your condition before deciding on the treatment for genital warts that is most appropriate for you.

There is no permanent cure for either genital warts or the HPV virus. Doctors do provide several symptomatic treatments that successfully remove genital warts. However, there is no guarantee that they will not recur. And as it so happens, once a patient has suffered from genital warts, despite treatment, they do recur from time to time.

The very first kind of treatment that people opt for is topical medications. These are available in cream or gel form. These medications work by attacking and breaking down wart tissue. Genital warts can be treated at home using prescription medications. Doctors generally prescribe medications like podofilox (Condylox) or imiquimod (Aldara) which patients can apply by themselves at home.

It is always better to get prescription topical medications for genital warts. Topical applications available for other kinds of warts may prove to be harmful for the highly sensitive genital area.

Genital warts can also be removed by doctors. The methods usually adopted for removal of genital warts are cryosurgery, electrocautery and the use of trichloroacetic acid. The procedure known as cryosurgery involves freezing off the warts. This procedure needs to be performed in a doctor?s clinic. Electrocautery is procedurally directly opposed to cryosurgery and involves burning off the warts. Another method that is used for the treatment of genital warts is to use trichloroacetic acid to wear down the wart tissue.

Laser surgery is adopted for treatment of genital warts that are larger in size. This kind of surgical removal of genital warts will need the services of a trained specialist. This method is one of the most expensive ones for treatment of genital warts.

Some people opt for natural cures for treatment of genital warts. At times these cures do prove to be effective, but there are no guarantees that they will work every time. Certain home remedies are also very popular and are used by many.

The best treatment for genital warts can be provided only by a licensed medical practitioner and patients would be well advised to follow medical directions, if any, to minimize the chances of a relapse.

Can you feel some tiny growth in the genital or perianal area? You should have it checked immediately, even if the growths are too tiny to bother you right now. May be they are, or may be not. They can also be Molluscum Contagiosum or Fordyce’s spots or even Hirsuties papillaries genitalis. If they are, they will eventually grow bigger and cause a lot of discomfort. Do not try to operate on them by yourself. Go and see a dermatologist.

If you really can see or feel some red, pink, whitish or grey colored irregularly shaped mounds that are also soft and flat in your genital or perianal area, see some dermatologists to have it checked. If they are genital warts, start on a suitable course of treatment. If left untreated, the warts may become bigger and raised. They may also multiply into cauliflower-shaped clusters or ulcerate. It is of course, true that sometimes these warts are cured by the natural immune system of the body, but that is very rare. They need treatment most of the time.

There are different ways to treat. Talk to your doctor in details and try to evaluate each treatment to find out which one will suit you most. Here are some questions that you should ask your doctor before embarking on a particular mode of treatment:

• What are the different ways you can treat your?
• Why has your doctor chosen the particular mode of treatment over the others?
• How long it will take to dissolve the warts if you do not go for surgery or cauterization.
• What are the side effects you can expect?
• What steps can be taken to combat these side effects?
• What are the chances of the warts reappearing?
• Will the treatment weed out the HPV as well? There are different types of treatments. Only a qualified medical practitioner can decide which treatment will suit you best. Learn about each of them and evaluate the advantage and disadvantage of each before undertaking the treatment. Although your doctor should decide the mode of treatment, you have a right to know certain details.

Ask your doctor:
• What are the available modes of treatments?
• Why has the doctor chosen this particular mode?
• Will it help to eradicate the HPV, or will it just get rid of the visible warts?
• If it does not cure the HPV, what measure can you take to eliminate it?
• What side effects can you expect?
• Will the doctor take any measure or prescribe any medicine to minimize side effects?
• How much time or how many sittings will it take to do away with the?
• What is the approximate cost involved?

Time taken to cure genital warts vary according to the mode of treatment and condition of the wart. However, you cannot expect the genital wart cure to be permanent unless you can control the cause behind it. If you are not aware, the genital warts, medically known as Condylomata acuminata are the visible manifestations of a highly infectious disease called human papillomavirus or HPV. The virus enters the body during sexual activities with an infected partner through the minute abrasions that occur during such activities. Once they invade the cell, they enter a latency period of months before manifesting as warts. Unless you can eliminate HPV, there cannot be any permanent cure for genital warts.

Unfortunately no FDA approved prescribed medicine claims to cure to the HPV. They all cure the genital warts, but cannot prevent their recurrence. However, some homeopathic and herbal medicines promise to cure the genital warts from the roots and give an undertaking that the warts will not reappear once they are cured. Price wise, these medicines are quite affordable and are easy to apply. They have almost no side effects.

It would have been nice if you could eradicate the HPV for good, that too at a reasonable cost. The cost is no problem at all if you have health insurance. If you do not, you can look for discount packages. Alternatively, you can go for homeopathic medicines that are available on the net. There are different brands of homeopathic genital wart remover. All of them claim to remove the warts from the roots and guarantee that the warts once removed will not reappear. They are not at all expensive and easy to apply. Some of them may even offer unconditional 60 days money back guarantee.

If you want cheap drug, podofilox should be your choice. However, such cheap genital wart remover has very harsh side effects and gives only temporary relief to the patient. Recurrence is quite common. You also have to take many precautions if you are using patient applied variety. Otherwise, they may cause irreparable damage. If you are pregnant, let the doctor know it. Most of the mainstream genital wart removers have adverse effects on the fetus. Cryosurgery will probably be the safest method under such circumstances.

Hence, take medical help when you are applying the genital wart remover cream on your own. For medical help, you will have to first contact your family doctor and then take an appointment to meet him or her. After physical examinations, the doctors may prescribe medications, which get rid of the genital warts completely. If the genital warts are too many then most doctors may recommend surgery or other physical methods of genital warts removal. Surgery isn’t considered to be a genital wart cure because it only removes the external appearances of the genital warts and doesn’t kill the virus.

Are you wondering how to get rid of genital warts from home? You would be surprised by exactly how many people are searching for this information. There are many reasons to want to treat your warts at home rather than visiting a doctors office. So do not worry you are not alone in your search.

Warts of the genitals is contracted through an extremely contagious virus know as HPV or Human Papillomavirus. This virus can be transmitted as simply as through basic skin to skin contact. This means that you can get HPV and in turn develop warts even if you use proper protection such as a condom. It is also possible to get genital warts from a person that has no signs of having genital warts. If the person you sleeps with carries one of the strains of HPV that causes the growth of genital type warts then you can get it off them. To make matters worse, it is possible for people to carry the virus with out ever developing the warts. This means that they have no idea that they carry the virus.

From reading the above information, it should be apparent that it is very easy to contract the virus that causes warts on your genitals. Warts growing on your genitals should not define the type of person that you believe that you are. It does not mean that you sleep around or that you are dirty or that you are tainted. You were just unlucky enough to contract a strain of a virus that causes the growth of this type of warts. You would probably be surprised by the actual amount of people that have warts on their penis, vagina or anus.

So now that you have this STD, you are wondering how you can get rid of genital warts. Well rest assured it is very possible to do so. In fact tens of thousands of people treat their warts at home. Let me fill you in on some of the main reasons that people chose to get rid of their genital warts on their own, from the comfort of their homes, rather than seeking treatment at a doctors office.

Reason#1: Shame
There is a huge amount of shame associated with all STDs, warts on the genitals included. For this reason you may want to get rid of the genital warts as quickly as possible without having to tell anyone. This is normal and understandable.

Reason #2: Privacy
You may know people that work in your doctors office or you may want to keep this off your medical record. This is a main reason that people want to know how to get rid of genital warts from home.

Reason #3:Time
Is it often quicker to get rid of genital warts from home than it is to see a doctor for treatment. You may have to wait weeks for a doctors appointment and then have to return for many follow up treatments as often your doctor will not get rid of the warts in one treatment. If you treat your warts at home you can begin treatment immediately and often treatments at home are more successful at treating warts.

Reason #4: Naturall
Do you cringe at the thoughts of the toxic chemicals that the doctor will apply to your skin to get rid of genital warts? When you treat your warts at home you can use natural, non toxic substances to get rid of the warts. These are better for you all around.

Reason #5: Avoid The Pain
The pain involved with the treatment of genital warts in a doctors office is not a hidden fact. It is well known that you can expect to go through pain when your warts are burned, frozen, removed with acid and so on. Getting rid of genital warts from home is pain free compared to the other option.

Reason #6: Lack Of Success With Previous Treatment
Have you sought medical treatment for warts in the past and the treatment failed? For this reason a lot of people use home treatment methods to get rid of genital warts.

Do you want to know the best home treatment method? Cure For Genital Warts

If you do not take action today, your warts will still be here tomorrow!

In the personal search for a genital warts treatment which provides satisfactory results, we all seem to travel along the same similar course. Generally it may begin with going to the drug store to find some sort of general wart removal medicine, be they creams, ointments or some kind of liquid which is applied to the warts, or other topical treatments one can get over the counter. As is more than often the case, this is when we may not even know exactly what type of warts we may be dealing with (few realize that there are 80 or more strains of warts), having no real specific name to stick on what we have. We basically just know that we have warts in an uncomfortable place, and would very like to see them disappear with a modicum of speed.

The Next Step In Your Quest For A Permanent Genital Wart Treatment

Once this road has been undertaken with minimal (if any) success, we then finally decide to see a doctor about our problem in order to get our condition under control with a prescribed genital warts treatment. Here we learn that genital warts are known in the medical world as condylomata acuminatum, which are brought about by a sexually transmitted virus called HPV (Human Papilloma Virus). And so, the doctor prescribes a genital warts treatment of much more strength, telling us to apply it topically onto the warts. Soon after perhaps a smattering of success, we begin to feel better and regain hope. However for many of us out there, after a while the treatment only seems to be maintaining a level of “not-too-serious”, and after time, it no longer seems to have any effect. For others, this genital warts treatment hasn’t worked at all.

More Drastic Genital Wart Treatments Are Effective, However, They’re Expensive And Painful.

The next step down this road is just a bit more drastic, if not expensive. If you choose any of these, which each require a series of medical visits, there are two things you should know; #1, removal of warts is complete for the most part, and #2, it can be pretty darned painful. Let’s go over the top three – the first genital warts treatment that comes to mind is cryotherapy, which is probably one of the most heard of. This is where the doctor takes a cotton swab, and uses this to apply liquid nitrogen directly to the warts in an effort to freeze them off of the skin.

Another technique on somewhat similar lines is using laser surgery with a CO2 laser. The doctor uses this laser to burn the warts off of your genitals. If you are anything like me, then that last sentence just sounds utterly ridiculous and painfully torturous… however, it is a very successful treatment. One last type of genital warts treatment I’ll mention here is the use of something called LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure), where the doctor takes this tool with a sharp, hoop-shaped blade and carves the warts right out of the skin.

Now, while all of these different methods of genital warts treatment may actually remove the warts entirely, the fact of the matter is that even after all that pain and payment, after a while, the warts just come right back. Can you believe that? This is why people nowadays are taking matters into their own hands. You see, all of these methods are only topically approached – none of it goes after the main cause, which is the virus (HPV, remember?). If you control the virus then you can eradicate the warts for good.

Are Herbal Remedies, Homeopathic And Naturopathic Medicines The Most Effective Genital Wart Treatment?

The best method of approach for this is to use natural herbal extracts and essential oils, because these forms of medication are the most speedily accepted by the body and used by the immune system. Effecting results from within, the virus becomes controlled, and within weeks the warts flake up and fall off the skin on their own. Breakouts never recur, and that is a genital warts treatment with permanence.

FACT: There is currently no known CURE for Genital Warts, however, the truth of the matter is there are Genital Wart Treatments which will end your suffering and embarrassment from those nasty Genital Warts.

Genital warts can be torture. In men, they often appear at the base of, and on the shaft of the penis, and can also manifest themselves within the urethra and the rectal area. At the very, very least, they can be embarrassing and dreadfully uncomfortable… usually, they can become quite painful. Genital warts in men can appear as being flat or raised and can form in large clusters resembling a cauliflower shape. In the more advanced cases of genital warts in men, painful urination can also be a factor when the warts have grown in the urethra. There are many medications and treatments which sufferers use, but as to the success of these, to say the least, it leaves much to be desired.

So What Treatment Options Are Available For Genital Warts In Men?

Some of these methods and techniques for eradicating genital warts in men can be through the use of creams and ointments gotten over the counter, or prescription medications geared to shrink them down. Most often with these, even with some measure of success, the warts return full force, seemingly as though nothing was done. As a result, quite a number of people have turned to using more drastic measures, turning to treatments such as cryotherapy. This treatment involves a number of visits to the doctor where he or she would apply liquid nitrogen directly to the warts in order to freeze them off of the skin. Eventually, after enough visits, all of the warts have been removed. This however, is far from being a pain-free treatment.

Another treatment seems to come from the other extreme, burning them off with a CO2 laser. This is generally for removing large warts in the genital area. Over the course of a number of visits to see the doctor, warts are removed in much the same fashion – painfully, and exteriorly. Even the thought of approaching the elimination of genital warts in men in this way can be frightening. Each visit, the doctor will fire up his laser and aim it at your genitals to burn them off. Are you cringing yet? True enough, it’s a gruesome spectacle even in the mind, to say the very least, yet complete removal is done quite cleanly and efficiently. The only problems with this method, as well as with the aforementioned cryotherapy treatment, is that it can be very expensive, and most often, the warts return.

Still another treatment, which seems to find some middle ground between these opposing ends of the spectrum, is known as Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP). This is when a doctor takes a sharp instrument, the blade being loop-shaped, and passes this beneath each wart mass, carving it away from the rest of your skin. Don’t even ask if this is pain free… the doctor may say so, but I won’t lie to you. This supplies the same results as the others – complete removal, but often, they all return.

Removal Of Genital Warts In Men Is Like Pulling Weeds In Your Lawn

The problem with using these methods to remove genital warts, in men or women, is that it’s the same as pulling out weeds. To remove what’s above while paying no attention to what’s underneath will only insure the return of the weed, or the wart. Genital warts are spurred on by first contracting a virus (HPV – Human Papilloma Virus) which is the internal base from which genital warts spring forth. Without controlling the virus, the warts will always come back.

Is Natural Remedies And Herbal Medicines The Keys To Removing Genital Warts In Men?

This is why so many have turned to natural remedies and herbal medicines and such. Medicinal plant extracts are readily accepted into our bodies and heal us from within, without the “added bonus” of adverse side effects that so many lab-created chemical medications bestow upon us. The most speedily effective treatment is herbal extracts and essential oils. These, when topically applied, go straight into the bloodstream because they are lipophillic. Basically, that means that these natural extracts and oils can directly penetrate cell membranes and immediately be carried by the bloodstream and utilized by your immune system to control the virus and destroy genital warts in men and women of nearly any age. After a few weeks, they flake off from the skin never to return.

FACT: There is currently no known CURE for genital warts in men, however, the truth of the matter is that there are genital warts treatments which have proven themselves as being an effective method of eradicating your Genital Warts.

Genital warts are a sexually transmitted disease and are associated with the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Genital warts present themselves in different variations, but they are almost always flesh colored, and are typically raised bumps on or around the genital area. Both men and women can suffer from genital warts, but there is treatment for this problem. Genital wart medicine can range from topical treatments to injections, and may be ongoing treatments. Some of them can prevent a genital wart before it appears.

Some topical medicines includes keratolytics. Keratolytics are agents that include acid bases that essentially burn away the warts, similar to the way a wart anywhere on the body is burned off.

Some keratolytics work for a longer period than others, so be sure to ask your doctor if this medicine is a long lasting topical treatment or one that will need continued, ongoing use.

Interferons are another type of genital wart medicine that works in a different way. Interferons are protein based medicines with antiviral and anti tumor effects. This medicine can be administered topically or it can be injected directly into the warts. The latter is the quicker, more effective method as it treats from the inside out.

There do tend to be a lot of side effects reported with this type of medicine so be sure to check with your physician for contraindications if you are taking or plan to take any other medications during treatment.

The new HPV vaccine can be effective in preventing genital warts that are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. This genital wart medicine is only available for women and girls between the ages of 9 and 26 as a vaccination. The genital wart prevention is a bonus of this vaccine, but it will not be administered as a treatment.

The HPV vaccine only treats for four of the more than 75 strains of HPV, so it is not a full proof prevention. If you happen to have genital warts at the time of your HPV vaccine, you can still transmit them to others during sexual contact. You should be treated for the warts separately.

There are some herbal genital wart medicines that claim to help not only these types of warts but all kinds of warts on the body. Herbal remedies are often very effective, but some of these medicines counter what the doctors will tell you about medicine for genital warts.

Most doctors will advise against using medicine for common warts on a genital wart. If you have genital warts, the best thing to do is see a doctor for treatment. It is not really a good idea to self-medicate, particularly for something as serious as warts in the genital area.

If medicines do not work to permanently cure your genital warts, you may need to have the warts surgically removed. Of course, they will return if you continue to have sexual intercourse with a partner who has the condition and is untreated. Ask your doctor for a genital wart medicine that will most likely not allow the warts to return on their own.
